We can help you build a world-class workforce training system

World Class Workforce

World-wide, Alberta professionals are actively helping governments and major corporations create efficient, high-mobility workforce training systems of their own. These people are experts in our system.

Alberta experts are involved in projects in Southeast Asia, Latin America, the Far East and China, Africa and Eastern Europe.

A major gas company in the United Arab Emirates, for example, has been accredited to participate in Alberta's apprenticeship program. Apprentices from the company attended technical training in Alberta once a year during their apprenticeship, wrote Alberta examinations, and received Alberta Journeyman Certification.

Our training institutions – the best in Canada

Alberta is proud of its two major provincially funded polytechnical institutions.

The Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) is located in Alberta's capital city, Edmonton, the heart of our refining and heavy oil industry and a major oilfield service and manufacturing centre. NAIT delivers training programs to approximately 14,000 full-time and apprenticeship students each year through its campuses in Edmonton, Fairview and Grande Prairie.

In Calgary, where Canada's oil and gas industry management is centered, the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) delivers training to approximately 12,000 full-time and apprenticeship students each year.

Both NAIT and SAIT also deliver a wide variety of apprenticeship programs in trades that are not specifically connected to the oil and gas industries.

Throughout Alberta, apprenticeship training in many trades is also delivered by:
